Our daughter is getting married in Grand Cayman next May. We thought about planning a small "reception" there for the guests that attend. Originally, that number was thought to be small, but now it is looking like 75 to 100 people! We can't really afford any type of formal reception for that many people there, and had originally planned a post wedding celebration with band, food, bar, one week after the wedding back in the US. My question is, what is the etiquette for a reception or any other formal gathering for that matter, at a destination wedding? Thanks for everything, because I am starting to panic.....

Re: [thefosterfarm] Reception at destination wedding site?

Dear Thefosterfarm,
Actually, the couple is financially responsible for all costs of their wedding. So, you are not responsible for anything. They are responsible for providing their guests with 'something' for traveling to share their day. This 'something' isn't well defined as it couldn't work in all situations. It could be a welcome cocktail, basket of goodies, anything that shows appreciation. But, some sort of reception is best.
It is up to your daughter and her fiance to fill in the monetary gaps.
