Should bride pay for dinner after destination wedding ceremony
I am getting married on Kauai in May. Is it required of us to pay for the dinner following the wedding ceremony? We will have maybe 20 guests at the most, consisting of close friends and family members. This meal will not be a reception as we will have one when we get home.

Dear Purplesummer,
If you invited these guests to dinner, then you are obligated to pay for it. The simple rule is: you invite you pay. In any case, you would want to do something for your guests if they travel. It doesn't have to be a meal, but it should be something special.
If you don't want to pay for a meal, it is best not to go out for one afterwards.

I agree, I should do something for them, and I want to. I just wasn't sure if it was the dinner that I should pay for. Or some type of group activity. I suppose the dinner really is the best choice. Thank you so much for the advice!

Anything you 'invite' your guests to attend you would be obligated to pay for. If you don't invite, then it isn't a problem. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
