Who Pays for Wedding Guest Passes at an All-Inclusive?

My fiance and I are getting married at an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana (DR) next December, and we are lucky enough to have 30 people joining us for our celebration! There is one couple that has been causing us some grief, however. I was the MOH at my best friend's (we'll call her Sherry) wedding three years ago, and though she is planning on coming, Sherry and her husband are staying at a different resort. Because of this she will be required to purchase a day pass for $100 each for the two of them to attend the wedding ($200US). I have read articles on other websites that say that I am responsible for this cost (the sites indicate "No one should ever have to pay to attend a wedding ceremony"), but it was their decision to stay at a different resort so I do not feel that I should pay this expense. Who is right here?

Thank you.

Dear Cherokee,

You will find this advice here as well. There should never be an admittance charge to attend a wedding. So, you are responsible for the fee. This is why I always caution people to consider this before hosting their weddings at a resort that charges these fees.

Best wishes,
