appropriate gifts for guests at destination wedding

Y'all are fabulous! This is the best site ever.

Is it appropriate to give my guests welcome amenities as their gifts for coming to the wedding in Hawaii? we are planning out a couple of wedding events that are going to cost us plenty (reception cruise and pre-wedding luau), so I can't really afford much else. but I thought of putting together a basket for everyone of local snacks, coffee, candy, etc. for when they arrive. do I need to plan for something more personal/substantial for each guest?
