destination wedding and registering for gifts

We are planning a private wedding in Jamaica. We plan to have a reception a few weeks after we return. I know that we should not have a shower or expect gifts. However we both have large families and lots of friends, and they have been asking where we are registered. Is it okay to register since people are asking?

It's fine to register for gifts as long as you do not include the registry information in any invitation. If a guests asks you can inform them.
