how long after a destination wedding is it acceptable to have a post wedding celebration
Hello,
I was wondering how long after a destination wedding is it acceptable to have a post wedding celebration. Is it ok to have it within the first year of marriage?
Thanks,

Dear LLL,
Any time within the first year is fine. However, the longer you wait the more elements of the traditional reception seem unnecessary and odd--first dance, bouquet toss... . So, use your best judgment.

Hello again,
In reference to odd would it be strange to wear my wedding gown again even though almost a year will have passed? I thought that would be nice, but if it's strange I'd rather not. I don't think we would do the first dance bouquet toss etc., but wearing our wedding attire again would be fun.
Thanks

There isn't a 'rule' against it, but it may seem strange to some. If your reception was very soon (within a month) after your wedding some guests might want to see you in your dress. But, after a couple of months the reception seems less a reception and more as just a party to celebrate the wedding, which in reality, that is exactly what the reception is . Silly, but it is all about perception.
A great alternative would be to film your wedding and play it during your reception. This way you can share the day better and share your beautiful dress with all of your guests. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
