how long after your destination wedding can you have a celebration of your marriage

My fiance and I are getting married in my parent's hometown (Indiana) so that all family can attend easily. Our wedding is scheduled for Nov. 28th (the Sat. after Thanksgiving-- which is a no, no BUT works for my family) We wanted to just have family and close friends attend the wedding and then have a celebration in Texas for all our friends. But with the holidays and everything, we were planning on having our celebration Jan 16th. Is that too much time between?

Dear Devetskie,

We have very many posts about this as this is very common.

You have almost the entire first year to host your wedding reception. Please remember that this is not a gift giving event, so no mention of gifts should be made.

Best wishes,
