We live in the northeast and my daughter, who lives in Montana, is getting married in October at a resort in Montana. Is it 'proper' to invite guests who we assume probably won't be able to attend but if the wedding was nearer to home would definitely attend? We don't want to hurt feelings, yet we don't want it to seem like we are just asking for a gift. Thanks for any advice.

Dear JAJ,
An invitation shouldn't be a plea for a gift, so invite all whom your daughter would love to attend.
