is this considered a destination wedding?

Hi! My fiance & I are getting married in the Denver area. We are new to the area but the wedding is 9 months away, almost a year to the day we arrived. It is a small wedding (50 or so guests) but almost none of them live in the area. We have thought of this as a sort of "destination wedding" for this reason. My question is, in regards to financial responsibility, do we follow the etiquette of destination weddings? We are paying for the wedding ourselves and have a small budget, yet still want to try & maintain a sense of tradition. I understand we are supposed to pay for the attendants lodging. Are there other things we should be responsible for when it comes to the guests who travel? What can we politely not be responsible for? Thank you for your help, we are sort of lost about all this!

Dear Acbridetobe,

No, this isn't considered a destination wedding. But, when we have guests who must travel for our weddings, we would want to do something special for them. This doesn't have to be much. If you are having a reception, this is good and appropriate. But, if you could spend some time before or after the wedding with them, that would be even better.

And, yes. It is very good that you are providing lodging for your attendants.

Best wishes,
