We are getting married in October in Mexico. We are from the US, but my family is travelling from Canada. We will be having a reception at home the week after we return, however my family from Canada will not be able to attend that reception. So, do we have a reception at the destination site or can we do something special for my family without making the rest of our guests feel left out or short changed?

Dear Jeffsbride,
It wouldn't be polite to do something special for only a portion of your guests. So, you could provide a reception at your destination site, which is common. The reception doesn't have to include traditional elements. It could be very simple, like a cocktail reception .
