My fiance and I are getting married in Costa Rica. We sent out a save-the-date letter, and some people have told us that they would not be able to make it. My understanding is that if you send a save-the-date, it is appropriate to always follow up with the invitation - even if you know they will not be coming. Is that true? I don't want these people to think we are sending invitations, knowing they cannot come, and now they would feel obligated to give us a gift.
Please help!
Thank you!

Re: [kaisaann] send invitation to those not coming?

Dear Invitations,
Please do not worry. Sending invitations is not a plea for a gift. And yes, you should send invitations to everyone who received a 'save the date' letter. It is much better to send the invitations than to exclude people just because you have been told that they cannot attend. They may have a change in plans.

Dear Kaisaann,
You are correct. There is no need for guests to rsvp to a save the date card. Even those who have expressed their regrets should still receive invitations. Life changes in mysterious ways and those who thought they were not going to be able to come may be able to attend.
