The bride had planned a traditional wedding, in fact most of the planning had already taken place and this is something she has wanted for years. Suddenly after deposits are on the dresses, she changed it to a destination wedding and uninvited all of her wedding party. Not only were we all hurt, but we are also confused. She still insists on having bridal showers and a bachlorette party. Now she is planning on having a reception when she comes back and wants our help in that too, since she still says we are her bridal party. No one is invited to the wedding except immediate family. What is the etiquette in this instance?
Unless you are in the actual wedding then there is no bridal party and none of you have any obligations to this bride. Only those invited to the wedding (ceremony not reception) are to be invited to any pre-wedding parties such as bridal showers or bachelorette parties.
She is certainly welcome to host a reception for herself upon their return however she should not expect any of you to help host this event nor should she expect gifts.
