I have a friend who is getting married in the Carribean this summer. No one else is going, it is just the couple. When they return they are having a reception. There will also be a small bridal shower that will be a surprise for the bride soon after they return. There is no gift registry for the shower & as far as i know, none for the reception event.
What is the gift etiquette in these situations?
Thank you!

Gifts are expected only from guests to the wedding (not the reception) so no gift registry is really required here since there will be no guests to the actual wedding. There should not be a bridal shower because only those invited to the wedding should be invited to a shower.
