what gifts and activities are required for a destination wedding?
My fiance and I have decided to expand our destination wedding in another state from a small, family event to a larger wedding with about 90 guests. We both realized that we really wanted to be able to celebrate with our friends. The wedding is in 12-1/2 weeks.
We are paying for three nights of lodging for our family members. We are having a daytime ceremony in a local church, followed by a catered reception with music at our B&B. Afterwards, we are charting a boat to take everyone for a sail just before sunset.
We do not have any additional activities planned. We have some room in our budget to do more, but our wedding costs are mounting fast. Is it ungracious not to provide welcome baskets or a second event, such as a goodbye brunch? (My fiance is really opposed to a goodbye brunch.) I'd like to have welcome baskets, but I would also like to pass out customized sweatshirts for the sail, since it will be chilly on the boat.
Is it rude or awkward not to provide dinner after the reception and sail, since we'll probably be done by 7:30 PM at the latest?
