     Who pays for the honeymoon

My daughter is having a hurry up and get married wedding before the baby comes. Besides being emotional to the max now she says that since we and the grooms parents are splitting the wedding expenses that we have to pay half the honeymoon costs as well. I thought the bride and groom paid their own honeymoon expenses. I've been married 30 years so I am out of touch with wedding traditions I guess.

Long gone are the days when parents were obligated to host a wedding for their daughters. If the parents have agreed to host a wedding this should be considered a very generous gesture. Nothing more should be expected.

A honeymoon is an optional event. If the couple wants a honeymoon, and no one has offered to gift this to them, they should pay for it themselves.

Parents - just say no - please!
