We are interested in tropical or warm- Florida, North Carolina, Bahamas, Cancun, ect. We can fly from Grand Rapids, Lansing or Chicago. We would like to stay a week, stay as close to $1000 as we can, and would like to go either first week in August right after the wedding or in October(my preference) when it isn't so gosh darn hot. (My Michigan blood can't take it!) Ideas?

August and October are in the same pricing season so your only difference would be weather.
Bahamas - This is always a good choice with alot to do Resort picks - RIU or Atlantis
Cancun - This island offers everything but the gambling so if that is part of your consideration Cancun is not the place. Cancun is a bit touristy if you go one hour south to what they Riviera Maya you get a better vacation. Resort picks - any RIU except RIU Tequila, any Iberostar, Royal Hideaway, or one of the Excellence resorts,
North Carolina - I can't make an informed recommendation about this one because it is not my area of expertise.
Florida is too vague. Special islands of interest - Amelia Island, Fisher Island, Sanibel Island
Remember that you are planning your honeymoon during hurricane season. Get insurance. If you book through a travel agent and there is a problem they can get your rerouted to another resort or island pretty efficiently.

He proposed at Disney, so in Florida we would be looking to go back to Disney or the surrounding Orlando area. So you think these places will be affordable?

Yes, when I made resort picks I thought about the budget you specified for resorts that would still be nice. All except for Royal Hideaway in Cancun/Riviera Maya. It will definitely be over the specified budget but it is the ultimate honeymoon spot so I had to mention it to you. Uneeda V. Arnold UNEEDA VACATION http://www.uneedavacation.com
