     Bar Options

We were given a few bar options including the costly open bar and a host bar. We were told we can put a cap on the host bar if we choose that option. For a wedding of 130-150 people, what is a reasonable cut off for the host bar? How much do they usually cost? We have some who drink nothing and some who drink a lot. The reception will be a cocktail hour starting at 4 and the reception goes til 9:30, but the bar will be closed during the dinner hour.

Have you considered a beer and wine only option? This is normally a less expensive option. Not knowing your budget or the price per drink, I would have them notify you when you reach the $1000 level and you can judge whether to extend the bar or close it.

I completely agree. Plus, at some point later in the evening, say 8:30-9, the bar could close and only coffee, tea, and some other not alcoholic drink could be served. This may be a very good idea for those "who drink a lot."
