     Cash Bar Question

I read on another post that having even a semi-cash bar is not acceptable.. I know that when you have an open bar all night, many people abuse that, (at least every open bar event I have been to, I see that happening) I just think that when there is an open bar, if you are on a budget it will end up blowing up in your face and you'll be stuck with a huge bill at the end of the night.. Is there any suggestions on how to have a "cheap" open bar that people will like??? Thanks!

A good hostess never allows her guest to pay for anything, this is why the cash bar is a no-no.

A good way to include alcohol without breaking the bank is:

1. Limit open bar to just the cocktail hour.

2. Limit cocktail hour to just champagne punch.

3. Serve only beer and wine during the reception.

The above can be mixed and matched according to your taste and budget.

OK Thanks, that sounds good..

But what if we wanted to do open bar for just beer and champagne, but some people don't like that, then would it be ok if they got whatever else it was they wanted at the bar at their own expense?

No, again, a good host never asks their guests to pay.

Most people who drink like either wine or beer.
