     Diningware

We are on a strict budget. Luckily, we have a friend who went to school for culinary arts and has agreed to prepare the food for the wedding for a very low price. Paper plates are out of the question. What can we serve the food on without the dinner seeming cheap?

Dear pookabee,

Check with your local rental company and check out the price per piece on renting china and then check with a party supply house on the really high grade of plastic ware. Either would be more to your liking.

Dear Pookabee:

Add this to the clear high-quality plastic plates. I find that the really good ones are at the party stores. Print your reception menu on colored paper that matches the colors in your wedding. Cut it out small enough to fit just under the clear plate. This adds color to an otherwise plain setting.

Consider adding one last touch of inexpensive elegance to your reception. Buy some small wallet size picture frames in either silver or gold (whichever goes better with your decor). I usually get them from our local dollar store for about .50 each. What we do with them is this. We type guests names on clear labels in a cursive font. We then attach the lables to plain white paper and cut the paper to fit into the frame and set the frames at the top of each place setting. It does so much for so little.

I know you didn't ask about this but I thought it would be helpful.

Best wishes,
