How to plan a small, affordable wedding.

My fiance and I want to get married in July, however, his family lives across the country and I am not very close with my family. I know there is the option of a destination wedding, but we are just starting out and we have a young son. Are there any ideas that anyone could suggests other than going to the court house? We would still really like a special day, just a little less traditional. Any advice?

Will there be any guests?

Guests will be a couple of close friends possibly.

Dear Kansas,

There are no do-overs, so it is important for you to feel comfortable with the wedding you plan. So, wait until you can afford the one you want if you aren't.

However, your wedding can be very special even if it is a small, private affair. Perhaps consider hosting your wedding in a home. Most anyone can become authorized to perform your wedding. So, a friend or family member could marry you. Then all of you could have a nice party afterward. Of course you two would have to provide the entire party. This could be very simple though.

Sometimes these simple affairs can be sweet and memorable.

Best wishes,
