     Is It Tacky?

Hi Ladies,

My fiance and I are getting married on a Friday evening, and we want to go to dinner afterwards. We would like our close firends and family to join us, however we want them to pay for their own meal. How do we present this to them? or should we even invite them? HELP!!!!

Dear Is It Tacky,

Well... Any time you 'invite' others to anything you are the host--you pay. So, there is no polite way to say this. You can tell your friends and family of your intention to go out to dinner after your wedding and that you wouldn't mind company. Perhaps you could mention that they may need to call for reservations if they are interested. This implies that you are not hosting a party; you are simply going to dinner.

Best wishes,
