Planning an outdoor wedding on a budget

I'm getting married in 6 months and only have a budget of 4,000$. I have a ceremony site picked out but, it`s not very private. It's in a park where there is always at least 150 people . I have no idea where to have a small private outdoor ceremony that will fit my budget. There is only about 30 people coming including the wedding party. No idea of how to save on the food, drinks, cake, ETC.

Absolutely. We have many ideas that work well.

Check out the parks and recreation, VFW, and other similar organizations for inexpensive rooms. If you decide to hold this at the park, make sure that you can do it without a permit.

If you host this late morning, you could have just cake and beverages. If later, say 2 pm, you could have cold cuts, rolls, salads, and cake. Skip the alcohol or serve only beer and wine. All of this will save you money.

Consider visiting some of your local churches or bed & breakfasts, as many have gazebos in their garden and offer small tranquility parklike areas for their members. For a small fee, they might let you use their facility, since there are so few attending. You'd have the convenience of the facility, plus the beauty of the surroundings.

Make sure you budget enough for a good photographer, because afterwards all you will have are Receipts from all the different expenses and your memories.

To save money....

1) Keep cost of wedding cake to $5 or so per slice.

Make mini cakes. Instead of one large cake, split up the cost and ask your baker to make every guest a cupcake of your favorite flavor instead. Top each with something pretty, and build a 'wedding cake' tower of your fabulous cupcakes.

For even more savings make the cake yourself or buy from one of those bulk buying stores like costco.!

2) Check out the cost of bringing a caterer on site, versus doing it yourself, or having the reception at a nice cozy restaurant.

3) The main thing is to have a good time, so please consider providing some type of entertainment, an inexpensive DJ with good sound equipment or live music provided by friends who will give you a good deal. Consider one musician to play acoustic guitar.

4) If you don't plan on having a photographer and you're hoping your friends will cover the event for you, make sure they take the photos at the highest resolution possible so you will get good prints later. Get disposable digital cameras and place them around for your guests to take photos.
