My fiance and I are planning to have our wedding sometime this coming July. We would prefer it to be a weekend evening. We just want something really romantic and formal for our guests to enjoy, and something for the two of us to remember forever. After talking with my dad, we found that we have $4,000 to spend (excluding the cost of the bridal party's attire - dad's tux, mom's dress, fiance's tux, brother's tux, sister's dresses... etc.). If we want to invite around 150-200 people and have a very formal evening wedding on a weekend in July... is this budget enough to work with? We know that we will have more by the time it comes, the two of us are saving up now, but... how much more do we need??

Dear Soinlove,
I don't know how but we seem to have missed your post but I'll attempt to answer for you.
A very formal evening wedding for 150 to 200 people would most likely run more like 18 to 25 thousand dollars. I don't know where you are located but most reception sites will take up a good bit of that $4,000 before you even start dealing with food and beverage.
There are ways to cut the costs but you have to move off the idea of having it on a weekend evening which is the prime time.
