I am having an informal outside July wedding and I am confused on what type of dishes I should use. The reception is very informal so I am planning on having a BBQ buffet. Could I use regular home dish sets or would that be too formal for such an informal reception? What about the silverware? Also napkins...should they be fabric or paper? I just don't want it to look too formal, but I don't want it to look like a birthday party either. Any ideas??
Even for an informal wedding you should try to set a gracious level with your tableware. China won't blow away at an outdoor venue. If your barbecue buffet is being catered, find out what they provide. There are different levels of plastic ware if you get into that. Try to use good quality. Well I like the idea of using dinner dishes and silverware! Would using paper napkins for the cake and fabric napkins for the dinner be ok? Also if its a buffet would the tables already be set or would the plates be stacked next to the buffet table? I am just unsure how this will work...
This again would be up to your caterer. Most likely the tables would be set with glasses and silverware. The plates would be on the buffet table. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com and http://www.coordinatorscorner.com
