     VERY tight budget large wedding

Is it possible to plan a wedding for 200 people in $3,000?
Planning on having soup/sandwiches fruits/veggies for the "meal" but also plan on having a DJ at reception. Having free videographer and photographer.

Dear Very Tight Budget,

Depending on your location, yes. My husband and I hosted ours for much less than $2000 and invited over 100 guests. Ours was catered by a nice Italian restaurant and we rented a large room with kitchen access from the Veteran's Memorial Center.

Rooms like this are available from many sources. Check your nearest parks and recreation district and organizations, such as lodges. Also, consider family homes and gardens.

Informal weddings can be very sweet and can cost very little. You could have one or two attendants at the most. I asked mine to just wear nice flowered dresses they would wear to a restaurant--we were married in the court yard of the center. This worked out great for us and didn't cost our attendants a thing.

So consider all of your elements. Your choice of food is fine as long as your event is during the day--no later than 4.

I also didn't hire a videographer or photographer. But, it helped that I asked two friends to record it. Both copies had problems. So I had to cut and paste a good copy together with a good software program. Please keep this in mind.

Best wishes,

Select items that you can prepare in advance and purchase in bulk. A restaurant supply can provide the very large cans of soup base for your soups.

Regarding beverages, by not providing alcohol you just saved a good amount. Make sure you definitely have tea and coffee available, which can be prepared in bulk. Cans of soda on ice is better than messing with the liter bottles, and having to worry about peoples hands fiddling with lids while pouring into cups.

Glad to hear that you will have some form of entertainment. You want the evening to be memorable and fun. ENJOY!!!
