     WHY ARE WOMEN SO EXPENSIVE?

I just got engaged to my girl on Saturday. I love her so much. We have been best friends for over 2 years, and she is most definitely the woman I plan on spending the rest of my life with. My question is, why do women always want a wedding? I would love to just go get married and forget about a costly wedding. I would like to have a nice reception at home or something. I'd rather save that money for a home or something.

That being said, since I am paying out of my pocket, I have been doing most of the research. I found a place to have the wedding and reception here in Daytona Beach for about $750 for 9 hours, including decorations. I found a DJ to perform for about $300-350. I found someone to cater for about $300 for about 50 people. Anyone have any suggestions about flowers and all that kind of stuff. Also, I need info on girts and whatever else is involved. Thanks!

Dear Groom...

You sound so sweet; your bride is very lucky!

I don't think I can speak for all women, but I think many women like the romance and the attention they receive from the wedding. It's all so romantic, with you and she in the limelight, standing up in front of everyone you know and professing your love. From the time they're little, girls play dress up and wedding and so it is natural for them to want to live out that fantasy.

Most men, I think, feel as you do about the planning and all of the hoopla but, on that special day, when your lady walks down that aisle toward you and takes your breath away...well...that moment will last a lifetime in your memory.

There IS something to say for being frugal and not spending a fortune on one day though. There are many portions of the planning that can withstand a budget cut. You and your bride will have to discuss those areas and you might have to compromise; which is a good lesson for the future since marriage is all about compromise (well, there's other good stuff too!).

Sounds like you have all of the planning under control but if you do a search on this site down in the search box below you will be able to find all sorts of good money saving information on almost any topic you can think of in the wedding field. If you have any questions that have no been specifically addressed please feel free to come back and post your question in the appropriate forum category.
