What's a good budget to work with??

I know this question is pretty general, and may not even be a question that can be answered, but... if my finance and I are planning on having a very formal wedding on a Friday (or Saturday?) in July with 250 guests... what would be a decent budget to set for our wedding plans?

As a general rule of thumb, you can figure on approximately $100 per guest. $25,000 for 250 and that may be tight depending on the site fees and the meal selection.

wow, 25,000 dollars for 250 people. Well I would have to say your budget is what you know you can afford. Think about what cost's extra for the people you are having like food, drinks (don't forget you don't have to have an open bar, you could always have a pay bar) tons of savings there... You don't have to spend 5 dollars on each of their favors, I know a place where they could cost .25 cents (personalized candybars) up to 2.00 each. Personalized candles are nice and they run about 1.25 per candle with couples picture or any picture they would like.

Location that accomodates 250.. you could have people you know cook, unless you are able to afford catering, and pricing depends on location, and meal preferences.

Lodging if you have to supply that for any of your guests.

I don't believe that you have to spend an outrageous amount of money to have your family and friends there to witness your promises to each other. There are many ways around a wedding costing 25,000 dollars, you just have to know where to find the savings.
