I need to know what the etiquette is for me as a bridesmaid in my best friend's catholic wedding, as I am not catholic. My mom is also a guest at the wedding and I know she will wonder what the etiquette is... I've been to one Catholic wedding and I remember there was a lot of kneeling. As part of the wedding party, do I have to participate in the catholic traditions? I don't believe it's fair to infringe that upon everyone at the wedding because surely not EVERYONE there will be catholic. So do I just stand throughout? I figure that will make me stand out in the crowd, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do. Help!

Assuming the wedding will take place during a Mass, people who are physically able to do should kneel at the points in the ceremony that kneeling is expected. If the wedding is taking place outside of a Mass, usually if the officiant is a Deacon, kneeling is not typically part of the ceremony. Deacon Bob Tousey
