Catholic parents refuse to attend daughter same sex wedding

My fiancee and I are planning on getting married...problem is that my parents are VERY Catholic and refuse to attend any ceremony or reception. My fiancee and I are thinking about eloping. I still want to invite my cousins and relatives who know that I am gay and have no problem with it to a form of reception afterwards. How do I go about inviting them without driving a wedge between my parents and us??

Anne -

Unfortunately, this is not an etiquette issue nor an issue of religion. You would be best served by getting some pre-marriage counseling that would include family therapy as well. Your counselor would be better suited to give this sort of advice.

sorry I thought it was a religious issue as it the Catholic religion that prevents my parents from attending my marriage.

Your question was:

How do I go about inviting them without driving a wedge between my parents and us?

So, my answer to that question is that for family issues that are not etiquette or religion based, please seek counseling.
