I am getting married in a Catholic church and my dress, along with my bridesmaids dresses, are halter tops. Someone told me that we can't show our shoulders in the church so we will have to wear shaws... is this true?

Dear Bride,
This is true in many churches and is just simple respect. However, many will look the other way for the bride and her attendants. So, it is best to discuss this with your priest.

I agree in that the best person to discuss this is with your priest. Years ago, you just did not see bare dresses in a Catholic church. Nowadays, you do.

This is something that would be up to the Priest or Deacon officiating the ceremony and local custom. As long as the dresses are in good taste many Priests and Deacons would not object. God Bless Deacon Bob Tousey
