How can I find a priest for a destination wedding?
Hello. I live in Mn but we are getting married down in Florida. I would like an outdoor wedding if possible, but I know in the Catholic church that it would be difficult to find a priest to agree to that. So I am willing to do it in a church if I have to. But I dont have a clue as to how to go about finding a priest down in Florida. I wish I could find an older semi-retired priest that isnt as busy that could just come down to our location and perform the ceremony.
I am lost as to how to start this process. Any help would be appreciated! THANKS

As to outdoor weddings, you are correct that the Catholic Church has restrictions, but Florida should have some lovely old chapels where you can exchange your vows with the full blessing of the Church.
Most parishes will have a Kenedy Directory, which lists all the priests and their locations. You will have quite a selection to choose from, we're sure! If you know the diocese in Florida where you're planning your wedding, you can look up the diocese online and email your query. You might also try your local library. The reference librarian should be able to point you in the right direction.

-You can ask your local parish priest for help in this regard. He may be willing to make a few phone calls on your behalf. You can offer a donation for his time and efforts.
-You can try googling "catholic officiants in Florida" and see what comes up. Sometimes retired priests advertise their services.
-If you happen to know someone in Florida who is affliated with a Catholic Church down there, they may be able to ask their local priest to perform the service. I would advise that you offer a donation to the church.
With a little effort, you should be able to find someone.
