I have the impression that pre Cana is the most important pre-wedding aspect of a Catholic marriage. Though this is essential to getting married in most Catholic churches, I find it difficult to learn what options are accepted to fulfill pre Cana. I've heard of the weekend retreats and the all-day retreats, but what other options are available for couples who prefer individual couseling in one or two brief sessions in lieu of group gatherings. A friend told me about a test that couples take individually and then the results are discussed with a couselor or priest. Have you ever heard of PreCana being fulfilled by something that simple? By simple, I mean schedule-wise not content-wise. Thanks.

There is a marriage readiness program called Couples Ministry, where the engaged couple meets with a married couple or a priest for a few weeks. The engaged couple completes an evaluation form (not a test) and then discusses the results with the priest or married couple.
Find out if this program is available in your diocese by contacting the person in charge of Marriage and Family Ministries in the diocesan office.
