Will a Catholic priest marry a couple who cohabitates?

Hello,

My fiancee and I currently cohabitate and by the time we plan to get married, we will have been doing so for approximately one year. We decided to do this due to financial constraints. We have yet to meet with the priest who is going to meet us and are very concerned that he will not perform the sacriment because we live together. Are we in jeopardy of not being able to be married in the Catholic Church? Thanks in advance for your help.

This is a pastorial decision the Priest will have to make. Not knowing your Priest it is hard to predict how he will handle the situation. With this being said today it is very common for couples to live together prior to marriage. Do not be surprised if the Priest asks you to consider refraining from intimate relations prior to the wedding.
