     catholic marrying an episcopalian

I am Catholic but my fiance is Episcopalian...very similar, I know. The problem is that my family is very traditional and would like us to be married in the Catholic Church, specifically the church my parents and grandparents were married in...a tradition that ideally I would like to continue. While my fiance says he'll do this for me, I know deep down he would rather go to the Episcopal Church. Both he and my family are leaving the decision up to me. So no matter what I decide someone will be disappointed. I am leaning toward making my fiance happy and having the ceremony in the Episcopal Church, but how do I make sure that the marriage is also blessed and recognized in the Catholic Church? Someone told me you have to have a second ceremony in the Catholic Church later. Is that true? What is your opinion on where we should have the ceremony? Please help.

There is no right or wrong here. I would suggest that you first call your parish and find out if an Episcopalian wedding ceremony would be recognized by the Catholic Church. If you do have to have two ceremonies, would that be so awful? You would be twice blessed! Many of my couples have done this, often to appease both sets of parents.
