will a catholic priest and rabi marry us outside the church
My fiance and I are getting married this spring. Out of respect for our respective religions and to our familes we would ideally like to have a catholic priest and a rabaii preform the service at the reception site. I am never married with one daughter. He is divorced with one daughter and we currently live together in the midwest and our wedding will be back east. Is this possible? Or do we need to give up this idea and have an interfaith clergyperson preform the ceremony.
Thank you for any advice you could give us, we appreciate it.

Yes, there are Catholic priests and Rabbis who will perform an interfaith service side by side outside of the church or temple. It will just take a bit of research on your part, but it will be worth it. It is a wonderful sight to behold, two clergy members of different faiths celebrating one union!
Your wedding is the birthday of your marriage. It shows the world, including your families, how you will present yourselves.
One important note: If the partner who is divorced is Catholic, and has never obtained an annulment, there would be an obstacle there.
You might also consider obtaining my book. It will help you tremendously in guiding your ceremony, working with your Rabbi and Priest, and involving your children.

It is possible the challenge is going to be finding the Priest and Rabbi when you are in the midwest and the wedding is in the east. Do you have family or friends that can help? Deacon Bob Tousey
