My husband and I are renewing our vows because we've decided to give our marriage another try with God as the head of our relationship. We've been separated a few times and also dealt with infidelity. Can my husband and I have attendants to stand up with us? We are writing our own vows. We need someone to hold our vow cards. I also wrote a poem about my husband 10 yrs ago that I would like to read to him at the ceremony. I would like my attendant to hold that as well. If I do have an attendant. Would it be appropriate to call her the "bride's attendant" in the program? If not what would be appropriate. She will be the only one to walk down the aisle besides my husband and I. Is there any thing I shouldn't do in the ceremony & reception besides not wearing a veil or having a long train. We're not going to have a ring exchange, bouquet & garter toss either. My husband & I are going to walk each other down the aisle. Otherwise, it's going to be modeled like a normal wedding.

Since this is a vow renewal, an attendant is not necessary since no forms need to be signed and witnessed, but it certainly is not a no no. Go ahead and enjoy. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com

First, let me copngratulate the two of you for overcoming such dificulties and working so gard to uphold your wedding vows.
Now, if you are going to have an attendant then you can certainly name her as such in your program.
With regard to what to wear, Peggy Post is now saying that a veil (worn down the back rather than over the face) and a train could be chosen if the event is more of a formal one. Other than that there really aren't any rules here. It's your day, your way!
