I got married a few years ago in a basic civil ceremony. I am now a full Catholic (at the time I wasn't) and I'd like to have my marriage blessed at church. I heard that such ceremonies are meant to be low key and very short, but I'd like to wear wedding attire and invite a small number of guests. Is this appropriate (I wld like to do this as I just wore formal-wear at the civil ceremony and my family were not there). Afterwards we would just be having drinks/refreshments/some small after party

This service is not a wedding and should not appear to be a wedding. You can certainly wear a beautiful dress to maych the formality of the occasion but not a wedding dress and veil. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

I complete agree. It may appear as if you wanted this to viewed as a wedding. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

Thanks very much for your reply. On this site somewhere, I read that a formal cocktail dress could be worn to a church blessing of marriage ceremony. Is a white formal dress ok, as I couldn't imagine wearing any other colour?..And a grey formal suit for my husband? Also, seeing as we want to, but it would not be the correct etiquette to wear wedding attire to a blessing ceremony, is it ok to wear wedding attire just for our parents, (to take pictures, etc,) before the ceremony??

You can wear any type of attire in privacy. And, a white dress could be worn for the ceremony as long as it couldn't be confused with a wedding gown. The gray suit will be fine. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
