My fiance' is leaving for basic training for the Army in one month and we want to get married before he leaves. We are going to the Justice of the Peace but want to have a church wedding and reception when he comes home. No one knows what we are doing and we have started planning the "wedding" would this be proper?

This question has been addressed many times before. Please use the search tool or scan this forum for your answer. But, the basic answer is no, once you're married, you cannot be married again. The wedding is to marry two people and since you would already be married, a wedding wouldn't be proper. Hosting a reception upon your husband's return might be acceptable if he comes home within a year of his deployment or is home on leave. Otherwise a vow renewal or blessing of your marriage in church would be the way to go.

God bless the two of you and safe home to your husband. Please thank him for his service and than you for your sacrifice.
