I don't want to renew vows. I just want a wedding ceremony

I am already married but i did not have a ceremony. I am out of the country and when i return to the us I would like to have a ceremony. Is this concidered wrong? Can I wear a dress and have a wedding party, invite friends, and have a reception? This is what i want since I did not have one.Smile

Once you have exchanged vows and have been legally married, you're married, no matter what the venue. It wouldn't seem right to be married again.

However, if you would like to have a church service, speak to your clergy person to discuss a blessing of your marriage or even a vow renewal ceremony But, these would not be considered weddings and are not gift giving events. Since you are already married and already living together as a married couple, most of the events of a wedding just wouldn't seem right. Imagine what you would think if you were to receive a wedding invitation from a friend who you knew to already be married. We get many posts from confused guests who believe the event was planned as an afterthought just to receive gifts. This is why we always suggest to couples that they wait and have the wedding they want.

Of course, all of this is your choice. But, you asked about what would appear positively.
