This is an odd one....my husband and I were married last year - it was just the 2 of us and an officiant. We never wanted to have a big elaborate wedding, but have said that we would have some sort of reception with a ceremony for friends and family at some point. We are coming up on our 1 year anniversary and would like to have a reception (cocktail party?) with a small ceremony where we exchange wedding bands since we did not do this before. Is this a bad idea? Is it wrong to ask people to travel from out of town for an extremely scaled down version of a wedding a year later? We did send out announcements after we were married.

Re: [AMF] Not really vow renewal, but sort-of?

Surprisingly enough, your scenario is not so odd. However, the ceremony you'll be having is a vow renewal and a party to follow, not a wedding since you are already married. Please read more about vow renewals at IDoTakeTwo.com
