Photogrpaher and Music for Vow Renewal

My husband and I have been married for 15 years and have suffered many hardship that could have easily broke up a marriage. We want to renew our commitment to each other and our vows we said 15 years ago.

With that said, we are planning a small "ceremony" consisting of our parents and our child, then having a celebration afterwards with other family and friends. I am wearing a blue tea length dress and he is wearing a tux suit, not a real tux, a dressy suit really. I am wondering if having music or a photographer is appropriate. We did not have pictures taken professionally during our wedding and wanted something more formal.

Thanks!

Dear Mistia,

What you are planning sounds fine. Don't worry about the addition of a photographer. The music can be just about anything as long as it isn't traditional wedding music.

Best wishes,

I'm not familiar with the "tux suit" you mentioned but just make sure it's not too formal for your event based on the time of day and venue. Remember that renewals are usually informal events. A good rule of thumb can be selecting an outfit you'd wear to church or church event on a Sunday afternoon. A suit for your husband and a nice dress for you will probably fit the bill.

Hiring a professional photographer could be a little over the top. I'd suggest asking a friend or family member to take some snapshots. Music is a nice touch to add personality to your ceremony. Choose songs that have meaning to you both and consider doing a family unity candle ceremony with appropriate music to go along with that service.

Much happiness,
