My husband and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary. It will be an intimate renewal at the church with some friends. We will have a Power Point presentation while people are coming in celebrating our lives. This is NOT a wedding...but how awful would it be for me to wear my wedding dress from 25 years ago to surprise my husband? It will be formal for us..and should my 18 year old son and 22 year old daughter escort us in? Don't want to be the laughing stock of the town...so I want it all to be done right. Thanks!!! I have searched the internet for days looking for an answer to the wedding dress question.
Not to worry. Wearing your wedding dress is fine and very sweet. If you were a recently married woman who wears a wedding dress for a vow renewal...well, then it would be a bit much. It would look like you were in a wedding. But, this is clearly a vow renewal and you are wearing your wedding dress, not a wedding dress. It may be a subtle difference, but it is the fine line between proper and egad. Your guests will most likely view this positively. In fact, you may want to supply them with tissues.
Including your children is not only proper it is heartwarming.
My hat's off to you if you still can fit into your dress from 25 years ago! Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
