My husband and I were married five and a half years ago in Vegas. None of our family was there. This year I was diagnosed with cancer and just finished chemotherapy. We have decided that we want to renew our vows in our church, but his sister cannot make it if we have our renewal on our anniversary date in May. Would it be okay to move the renewal to June so she and her children can make it out here for the event? Would this change our anniversary date? Since we were never married in a church, I'm afraid the church will recognize this as our anniversary. Thanks for your help.

Re: [klingtome] Renewing vows - not our anniversary date

No worries - your anniversary is the date you were legally married. Renewing vows does not change this. Speak to your clergy person about the ceremony. Perhaps they will suggest a blessing of your marriage rather than a renewal.
