     Thank you party?

So, My Husband and I have been married for just over a year. We eloped rather suddenly after having to postpone our wedding plans. My parents were the only ones in attendance. Everyone knows that we are married and are thrilled for us. My husband and I have come to realize that while the marriage is for the couple in large part the wedding is for everyone else, our parents, family and friends. We want to do something by way of a thank you for everyone who helped us grow in our relationship (and boy oh boy we got lots of help!!). Also our older relatives in particular want some fuss, they want me in a pretty dress etc.. We want to host some sort of party, casual, really fun etc... where everyone can be thanked and our relatives can see us be mushy what not. We don't, of course, want a wedding, and not a "vow renewal" either. We just want everyone together so we can show them a good time, tell them how much we appreciate their love and support and say some gushy things to each other so that no one feels like they missed out.

So... what do we call this? Any advice!!?

Thanks!

Dear Ashejane,

An anniversary party would be the most appropriate. It is exactly what this would be.

Please remember that this wouldn't be a gift giving event. Bench mark anniversaries may be.

Best wishes,
