Friends of my fiance' are renewing their vows for the second time. What is the gift-giving etiquette for a second vow renewal?

Dear Vow Renewal,

Gift giving is always optional, even though we do expect to give a gift for a wedding. Although for renewals, gifts should not be expected. So, it is entirely optional.
