My husband and I have chosen to renew our vows after 5 years of marriage. I had planned to have a wedding when we got married, but it never happened. I was wondering if it would be appropriate to make and wear a version of the dress that I had designed for the wedding we were going to have. It would just be a simple light pink princess cut dress with a very small, maybe at most 3-6 inch, train. The dress wouldn't be anything too fancy. Also I would like to know if it would be appropriate to let our children who would be 6, 4 and 2 serve as flowergirls and a ring bearer. (the ring bearer since we will be buying rings for this, we didn't have rings when we got married.)

Dear SkittlePrincess -
As our team has mentioned in many previous posts, the dress worn for the vow renewal should not appear to be a wedding dress. So, no train or veil.
There is no bridal party for a vow renewal. However, to include your children in the service, consider a unity candle ceremony or family candle ceremony which has become very popular for vow renewal ceremonies.

I completely agree. When vow renewals appear to be weddings, it is viewed very negatively. It isn't polite or proper and people do talk about it. Perhaps not to your face. So, plan carefully to avoid embarrassment. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
