White dress for a vow renewal?

We are renewing our vows in our church for our 25th wedding anniversary. Would it be appropriate for me to wear a white wedding gown? Our first wedding was held in the judge's chambers and I wore a street dress.

Dear Wants to be a Bride,

You may have many of the elements of a wedding. But, this shouldn't mirror a wedding ceremony because you are already married. It may appear as if you are creating a gift giving event.

So, it is best not to wear a wedding dress. This would create a feel of a wedding. The one exception is when you wear your wedding gown and recreate your wedding. This is understood by the guests because many of them would have been with you for your wedding.

A white dress would be fine though.

Because this could be viewed negatively if it is presented as a wedding, it is important to follow etiquette guide-lines and use plenty of common sense. Please read about vow renewal etiquette.

Best wishes,
