Who officiates a vow renewal ceremony?

My husband and I are planning to renew our vows on our 10 year anniversary. We were married on October 31, Halloween. We have decided to have a Halloween Renewal Ceremony. Everyone is asked to where a costume, along with various other Halloween themed items added to the traditional wedding ceremony. The problem being who should we ask to renew our vows? Do we need to have a Priest or can a close friend stand in. I am at a loss with this and any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

Congtaulations on 10 years of marriage!

Since the vow renewal ceremony is not a legal ceremony you do not need to have any paperwork nor do you need to have a member of any clergy officiating. You can ask your priest, but it's not necessary and a friend or family member can preside over your service. This person is just there to guide the couple.

Enjoy.
