Wording invitation for blessing of the marraige ceremony

We are still questioning the wording on our invitation. We eloped about two years ago and will be married in our church this summer. We are considering using the phrase "will be joined in holy matrimony" on our invitation. Is this appropriate?

Dear Cici,

No, not really. Your ceremony would be a vow renewal or a blessing of your marriage, which is basically the same thing. So, yours wouldn't be a wedding as you are already 'wedded'.

Please read more about vow renewal etiquette and our many posts about it.

Best wishes,

This wording would be a lot less formal than a typical wedding invitation. Something like:

Mr. and Mrs. Your Last Name

Request the pleasure of your company

at the Blessing of Their Marriage

Place

Date

Time
