     Wording vow renewal invitations

My husband is Catholic and we did not get married in a Catholic church, so we have been meeting with a priest in order to renew our vows and have it blessed in the church. We are doing this on our 5 year wedding anniversary in November. We have to have 2 witnesses, (our original MOH and BM are doing it) and would like to invite a few family member and some close friends. Nothing big at all. We plan to go out to dinner afterwards.

Should I send invitations, how should I word it, and are we expected to pay for everyone's dinner after?

Dear Blessed,

It is unnecessary to include witnesses for a vow renewal because this isn't a legal ceremony. But, you can include them because they were your original attendants.

Because this is a small event you could just invite your friends and family verbally. You could send a handwritten note if you wish. You would be inviting them to a vow renewal to have your marriage blessed by the church.

If you choose to send formal invitations, please read about wedding invitations. Vow renewal invitations are included in this article.

If you ask or invite, you pay. So, anyone who attends your vow renewal is your guest and you would pay for their meal.

Best wishes,
